Re: Worksheet: Active and Passive Voices

Okay, kids, the answer key is uploaded as an attachment in the OP.

Why anyone would need an answer key is beyond me, the shift from active to passive is fairly straightforward.

Look at the active sentence. What is the direct object of the verb? That becomes the subject of the passive sentence.

Look at the main verb in the active sentence. What verb tense is that? That determines the tense of the "to be" in the passive sentence.

Look at the main verb in the active sentence again. What is the past participle of that verb (V3)? That is the form used in the passive sentence.

The subject of the active sentence may be used as the "agent" (the by...) portion of the passive sentence, but it's not required.

      Got it?

If not, there is also a brief tutorial on active and passive construction that has been added to the OP.
