A lot of people come to Thailand and fall in love with a girl or a woman. This book shows a relationship between a "Farang" who works in Bangkok with an Isaan bar girl and he believes that "his girl" is much different to all the other girls who're cheating on their (foreign) husbands.

The book is really great and you can read the girl's thoughts, as well as what the foreigner's thinking and feeling.

It should be a law that all foreign men have to read this book before they settle down somewhere in Thailand.

Is this a ten-year old post? Even my ex wife has read this book.

    As have I.
Still, there are lots of 'old' books worth reading that one may not be aware of.
    The Damage Done is one.
There's another I don't recall the name of which was a collection of essays. The author's neighbor was a spoken for girlfriend, if that helps.
    Hardship Posting.

I have read many a book about Thailand, by thais and foreigner alike. One book was written by a thai/ guava couple that was just painful to read. Almost without exception the books are an absolute waste of time and the time spent reading them would have been better spent doing anything else. I'm too busy to do so now, but a critique of each of them in a single post might not be a bad idea.

about the book, I work with a piss-pot in Prachin who had read the book. He was telling me that his mates where the inspiration for the characters in the book.

But what do the bar girls who fall in love with us get to read? I am not sure whose warning label should be bigger.
