Just a heads up to let people know that the education authorities are in the process of checking the authenticity of degree certificates. The owner of the tuition school where I work notified me of the checks this afternoon.

First of all, thanks for the information.

Education authorities = MOE, Regional MOE or provincial MOE? Targeting all foreign nationals working in OBEC schools or also foreign teachers in OVEC and OHEC schools? Randomly or all teachers?

    Any further information appreciated.

Will ask when I see her again this evening, she said it was the local area office and specifically the office that takes care of the tuition schools, she did say something about it being to do with the application of full licences , but like I said will check

Ok so the letter comes out of the catching of a group of forgers, they were producing certificates that foreigners were using to get work in Thailand. Immigration instructed the central education office who in turn informed the relevant branches of Private schools in and out of the system (tuition schools and regular 8am to 4pm schools) and requested letters sent.

My employer fully expects that a similar letter was/will be sent to all government school too but said the responsibility to send the letters was the office that that particular school reported to.

    no. the full teachers license.

Maybe connected to those idiots advertising fake degrees on craigslist. So the authorities are just saying "got any like these?"

It seems that two simple steps will go a long way towards eradicating fraudulent parchment:

    1) Provide the sanctioning body's website.

    2) Produce a letter, from the sanctioning body,
. and in an envelope from the sanctioning body,
. and on letterhead from the sanctioning body,
    . verifying your degree.

This approach also negates Khao San and other photoshop bullshit.

Especially if the envelope is still sealed with a postmark from the home uni's local post office.

Unfortunately a lot of universities are using bulk carriers for their mail. So my letter from Nottingham had a license number in Germany and nothing to indicate it emanated from Nottingham.

And it's quite easy to get a friend to post said documents from the local area.

My university does all scripts and degree verification online.

Which, I would imagine, would be much more difficult to forge...
