I clean my old Raleigh 3-speed off annually. A speed demon it is not, but, it has solid tires.

Regarding the Sturmey-Archer hub, I still don't understand how the sun and planet gears in that 100 year old design work.

Good for you. Enjoy the ride. 1.6 km it is, right? About 5 minutes at moderate speed. Not much of an exercise but better than driving a car or riding a motorcycle, for sure.
    Nice bike btw.

Bikes are cool in many ways...breezy, people think you're breezy, wearing a skirt makes it even more breezy ;)

bet you would look lovely. I would look like an even bigger twerp! Quality ones are available. Riding a bike, on the food chain of road users is just above dog. Take care

Stamp, you want to swop bikes? I will thrown in the motorcycle helmet ;) I went to the shop wanting to upgrade to a bicycle with gears and I walked out with a foldable bike in a trolley. Outside, I tried to undo the bike, couldn't manage and pushed back the wobbly half-folded bike into Tesco's.
That was the point of no return...
