Where is the city, town or village?

Phetchaburi is located at the northern end of the Malay Peninsula, with the Gulf of Thailand to the East and the Tanaosi mountain range forming the boundary to Myanmar. Except these border mountains most of the province is a flat plain area. With an area of about 3000 km² the Kaeng Krachan National Park is Thailands largest national park, covering nearly half of the province. It protects mostly rainforests in the mountains along the boundary to Myanmar, but also the Kaeng Krachan reservoir is part of the park. The only significant river of the province is the Phetchaburi River.

Muang Phetchaburi (Phetchaburi Town), te place where I live and work, is about 150 km south-west from Bangkok, 40 km north of Cha Am and 60 km north of Hua Hin.

What's available for foreigners in regard to schools?

Below are the schools in Muang Phetchaburi (Phetchaburi Town)

    About jobs:
    • University degree required
    • Salary range: 28,000 - 35,000 THB
    • Huge private classes potential

What are the costs of living there?
    • Accommodation can be rented from 1,500 for a small room to 6,000 THB for a detached house.
    • 30 THB for a simple meal

How about entertainment and social activities? Will I be the only foreigner in the city?

I estimate there are 50+ foreign teachers employed in Muang Phetchaburi.

    Shopping and such?
    • Big C
    • Makro
    • Tesco Lotus 18 km south
    • Department store

Several Thai discotheques, bars and karaoke restaurants.
    A few western food restaurant.

    Local Transportation?

Muang Phetchaburi lies at the southern main artery named Phetchkasem. Plenty of vans and buses to many destinations in the north or south.

    Advantages of living there?
The closest beach is 15 km east of Muang Phetchaburi
Thailand's largest national park is 50 km west
    150 km south of Bangkok
40 km north of Cha Am
60 km north of Hua Hin
170 km north of Muang Prachuap Khiri Khan

The Immigration Office designated to Phetchaburi Province is Prachuap Khiri Khan Immigration in Hua Hin. They strictly enforce the TCT requirements when working in K12 schools and the degree requirement when working in other educational institutions. The same applies to the provincial Labour Office.
Motor cycle is needed when you don't like to be stuck in town.

Final round up of the city, town or village
Phetchaburi Province - I've worked and lived there for 12 years. I've lived in Cha Am for two years and for 10 years in Muang Phetchaburi.

    I'm not going anywhere.

Since 5 September 2016, there's an Immigration Office in Thayang for foreigners residing in Thayang and Phetchaburi only. Thayang is about 20 km south of Phetchaburi town.

    Very nice intel.

Strict TCT enforcement sounds good to me! I hadn't thought of living there, but we could rent our condo for far more than we'd pay for rent in P'buri, and it sounds like a Thai license is worth something there.

Also, living near a beach, I could wear my sexy bikinis and g-strings again.
