A Thai teacher in her first year lost 1,000 THB of her SD for "being 5 minutes late" and "having had 5 visitors" triggering 5 x 100 THB fines. :porky

She has been making my life difficult with repeat complaints to my employer. Non-payment of rent, vandalism (pouring chemicals down the toilet - she's a freaking nutter). The last straw was that she messed up my lunch break by coming to my university to replace the instant HWH. Hell, she could have made an appointment... Besides, there was no need for this upgrade.

I moved out that day - - - and the following day, she tried to keep 90% of my SD. There was a 800 THB fine by Immigration. HER FINE, not mine. But she deducted that etc. Absurd stuff like charging 400 THB for damage to a door by laying shirts on it. That door is over 10 years old and there is nothing wrong with it... But then, you gathered that this is all about grabbing money and not fairness.

Thai friends suggested to walk away and let her keep the 2,000 THB.

    I went to the cops.

There was a meeting and the result of round 1 are promising.

    • I'll get 1,500 THB
    • she must produce the electricity bills for my meter
    • IF she cheated, I'll collect another 500 THB.
    • (If she hasn't cheated, then she can keep the 500 THB and enjoy me lying in front of her, asking her forgiveness :huh)
    • She tried to wriggleout by claiming that the electricity company would allow her toread all those 30 meters and then report ONE collective amount. :hilarious. No way, Jose.
Needed a translator. The cop likely enjoyed the fight. If she was packing heat, I would be dead by now. She hissed like a snake :yes

Then I stunned her by claiming the door. (>10 years old, with new doors retailing for1,600 THB). Her wanting to have her cake and eat it is not a novel concept.

Round 2 will take placetomorrow. Let's see if she will produce the bills?

Will be interesting tolearn if the cops will take note if a wealthy landlady goes on a petty crime spree.
    ...

The new place is 500 THB cheaper and the SD here is half.

YMMV, but I felt bloody minded and pig-headed about this "lady"

I used to think I had the worst luck in the world, but after reading your posts over the years, I actually feel pretty good. Thanks!

Way overdue but good you have departed that place now.

Too common a story scamming the SD here in LOS but be nice if you can get a bit back and even more so with a bit of losing face thrown in too. Good luck with 'Round 2'.

Well, I'd like to post some photos taken on the sly at the "cop shop".
In round 1, the evil witch had agreed that 1,500 THB are mine and she promised to refund them "tomorrow".

WTH? But then there were 500 THB and I had the morning filled with classes and it was ridiculous to keep wasting time fighting over such a small amount.

My compromize was accepted. She was to prove my meter readings (exactly 25 kw/h x 8 THB = 200 THB month after month, irrespective of me staying there 2 weeks or a full month). If she would prove her readings, I said I would lie down flat, beg forgiveeness and let her keep the 500 THB. Otherwise, I'd want the 2,000 THB :grinningdevil
    ...

Well, she handed over some handwritten page and refused to pay me anything. :oops :pity:runaround

The Electricity provider said it was a private meter. => Off to the town hall I went.

They had lawyers and they called. At some point, they extracted an offer of 1,700 THB. I countered, asking to meet her in the middle @ 1,750 plus checking out the "damaged door" she billed me for. :go

She agreed and the whole team got ready to drive over there. I had my big new Ipad ready to capture "water damage from drying clothes" on that door.

    Alas, she cancelled.

there was no damage and the Thais realized at this point who they were dealing with.

I was asked to put it all in writing and they said they would publicize it and get some other government people involved. (Someone was photographing me on the sly - not sure what's up with that?)
    ...

Me, I'd end it. But she is so full of hatred, spite aand vicious anger that it cannot end. (More suggestions of meeting at the police station and her paying "on the 30th" - the old cow is loaded)

I told them how she charged 1,000 Baht to a 1st year teacher for some made up nonsense. But apparently Thais are averse to confrontations and she let her keep the money. :worship

I'd be scared of future trouble over this small amount. :scared

Yes, it's annoying. Yes, I have no idea whether and when I'll get my money back. No, I think she made a big mistake. (People are talking and her antics will be shared, no doubt :party)

I'll move on and one day hope for a pleasant surprise.

What's your take? How do you predict this will play out? What could they mean regarding "publicity"? :popcorn

Is the cop updating his Farcebook page, or texting his Mia Noi? Or both?

They are at the town hall. There is no fee. And I feel the responsibility towards her future victims as she willl surely go wild if she gets away with this.

My friend Waraporn, how much is she making as first year English teacher at a government school? Perhaps 9,000? The 1,000 Baht taken away from her hurt her.

This particular feeling should be squelched: you can't right (or even slightly ameliorate) all the wrongs you'll encounter locally. Gossip is one possible avenue of revenge here: let folks know what happened (as you've done here) and let the word spread on its own. You can always deny everything later :smiling
